The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has opened applications for its Foreign Post-Graduate Scholarship Programme for the 2025/2026 academic session. The initiative aims to enhance human resource development in the Niger Delta region by equipping young professionals with specialized skills to compete globally in key disciplines.
Eligibility and Disciplines
Applicants must hail from the Niger Delta region and hold a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Agricultural Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Geosciences, Information Technology, Medical Sciences, Law, or Architecture. Candidates must have graduated with a First Class, Second Class Upper, or Lower Division and be no older than 40 years at the time of application.
Application Process
Prospective candidates are required to submit their applications online via the NDDC website (www.nddc.gov.ng) before the deadline of April 21, 2025.
Required documents include a recent passport photograph, Local Government Identification Letter, Post-Graduate admission letter from a recognized overseas university, relevant degree certificates, and an NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate. Upon submission, applicants will receive a registration number and are advised to print a copy of the acknowledgment for future reference.
Selection Criteria
The selection process involves multiple stages:
1. Preliminary shortlisting based on academic records (WASSCE/NECO results and undergraduate degree classification) and Local Government identification.
2. A Computer-Based Test (CBT) for shortlisted candidates, with a minimum score requirement of 70%.
3. Final verification through the Local Government Area (LGA) and Community Development Committee (CDC).
Preference will be given to candidates from oil-producing host communities, provided they meet the cutoff mark. The NDDC emphasized that deferment, change of institution, or course alteration will not be permitted.
Scholarship Details
The scholarship amount will be determined based on the prevailing exchange rate of the Naira. Shortlisted candidates will be announced on the NDDC website, and only those who progress to subsequent stages will be contacted.
