Governor Otu Proceeds on Annual Leave, Deputy Takes Over


 The Cross River State House of Assembly has approved Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s request for a three-week annual leave. 


During this period, the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, will step in as acting governor to oversee the state’s affairs.


Governor Otu formally notified the Assembly of his decision through a letter read by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, during a plenary session. Following deliberations, the lawmakers unanimously granted the request, commending the governor for his dedication and leadership.


The Assembly expressed confidence in Deputy Governor Odey’s ability to maintain stability and continuity in governance. They also wished Governor Otu a restful break, emphasizing that his well-being is crucial for the continued success of his People First agenda.


The governor’s leave, which begins on March 11, 2025, is expected to last for three weeks. The House reiterated its commitment to supporting the administration’s policies and programs, underscoring the importance of Governor Otu’s strategic vision in driving Cross River State’s development.
