The Acting Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, PhD, has approved the appointment of a six-member management team to oversee the transition and launch of the newly established University of Education and Entrepreneurship in Akamkpa Local Government Area.
The institution, formerly known as the College of Education, is set to begin operations under its new mandate.
In a press statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nsa Gill and released on March 30, 2025, the government announced the appointments, which took immediate effect.
The management team includes:
1. Professor Patrick Nyong Asuquo as Vice-Chancellor
2. Dr. Gabriel O. Egbe as Registrar
3. Dr. Eyo Bassey Ekpe as Bursar
4. Dr. Christopher Okoi Offem as Librarian
5. Chief (Dr.) Akpeh Edung Ogon as Director of Physical Planning
6. Engr. Bassey Ibok Eyo as Director of Works and Services
Professor Asuquo, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, previously served as the Provost of the former College of Education. A seasoned academic, he holds a professorship in Education and boasts a portfolio of nationally and internationally recognized publications.
The appointments aim to ensure a seamless transition for the institution as it expands its focus to include entrepreneurship education. The Chief Press Secretary, Nsa Gill, emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering educational excellence and innovation through the newly restructured university.
“These appointments reflect the administration’s dedication to positioning Cross River State as a hub for quality education and entrepreneurial development,” Gill stated in the release.
