Lagos State Assembly Impeaches Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, Elects Mojisola Meranda as New Speaker

The Lagos State House of Assembly has impeached its Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.

 The decision was reached on Monday during a plenary session, with 32 lawmakers voting in favor of his removal.

Following Obasa's impeachment, the Assembly swiftly moved to elect Mojisola Meranda, the representative of Apapa Constituency I, as the new Speaker. Meranda, takes over as the first female Speaker in the history of the Lagos Assembly.
