Just In: Governor Sacks All Commissioners, Advisers

In a significant shake-up, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has dissolved the State Executive Council (SEC) with immediate effect. This announcement was made in a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesman, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan.

According to the statement, all affected cabinet members have been directed to hand over government properties in their possession to the accounting officers of their respective ministries.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, however, exempted two critical members of the cabinet from the dissolution: the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, SAN, and the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac. Their roles were deemed essential for the continuity of state operations.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa thanked the EXCO members for their service and contributions to the development of Ondo State under his administration and wished them well in their future endeavors,” the statement read.

This move comes just months after Aiyedatiwa secured a second term in office by defeating his main rival, Hon. Agboola Ajayi of the PDP, in the November 16, 2024, governorship election. The governor’s decisive action is seen by many as an effort to reposition his administration for greater efficiency and impact in his second term.

Political analysts speculate that the dissolution could pave the way for the appointment of fresh faces into the cabinet, reflecting Aiyedatiwa’s vision for the state’s development over the next four years.
