Governor Otu Pledges ₦5 Billion for Healthcare, Unveils 196 Laptops


Cross River State’s healthcare sector received a significant boost with the donation of 196 laptops, aimed at transforming healthcare delivery across the state’s 196 political wards.


The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Asuk, expressed gratitude for the state government’s support, highlighting how these digital tools will enhance health services.


Dr. Paul Odi, Project Manager of the Cross River City IMPACT PROJECT, explained that the laptops will streamline health record management and improve monitoring, with a focus on boosting immunization and healthcare access for residents.


Dr. Vivian Mesembe, Director-General of the Primary Healthcare Development Agency, noted the initiative's potential to reduce maternal and child mortality rates while improving services in underserved communities.


Governor Prince Bassey Otu pledged a ₦5 billion budget increase to scale up primary healthcare facilities and expand health insurance coverage, calling for collective efforts to ensure better healthcare access for all.
