CAF Postpones 2025 Nations Championship

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), originally slated to begin on February 1, 2025, has been postponed to August 2025. The decision comes to allow more time for the completion of infrastructure and facilities in the host nations of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

CAF's Technical and Infrastructure team, which has been working closely with the host countries, recommended the delay to ensure all venues meet the required standards. While substantial progress has been made on stadiums, training grounds, hotels, hospitals, and other necessary facilities, additional time is deemed essential for readiness.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe expressed gratitude to the leaders of the host nations for their dedication to the tournament's success. "I would like to thank President William Ruto of Kenya, President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania, and President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda for their leadership, commitment, and the good progress made," he said. "I am confident that the infrastructure will meet CAF standards for a successful tournament in August 2025."

The delay aims to ensure that CHAN 2025 delivers a world-class experience for teams and fans alike.
