Ayade, Uzodimma, Diri Among Prominent Figures Affected as Wike Revokes Land Allocations in FCT

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked land allocations belonging to several prominent individuals, including Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, former Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen.

In a statement released by Lere Olayinka, the minister's media aide, the revocation affected 568 allottees who failed to settle their Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) bills after a two-week grace period granted in October 2024, and an additional extension that expired on January 15, 2025.

Out of 3,273 allottees initially given the payment ultimatum, these 568 remained in default, prompting the withdrawal of their Rights of Occupancy (R-of-O).

Other affected individuals include the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), Ibrahim Hadejia; Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele; Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro; Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nkeiruka Onyejeocha; Minister of State for Industry, Trade, and Investment John Eno; Chairperson/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Abike Dabiri-Erewa; late Sports Minister Bala Kaoje; and Regina Akume, wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

This latest revocation follows an earlier withdrawal of 762 plots of land three weeks ago, as Wike intensifies efforts to enforce compliance with land allocation policies in the FCT.
