Abia/C'River: Again, Suspected Isu Warlords Invade Ukwa Eburutu Community, Kill 2, Injure Many

Suspected warlords from Isu community in Arochukwu Local Government area of Abia State have invaded Mbiabong Ukwa community in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State, killing two men and critically injuring over ten others.


GRASSROOT REPORTERS gathered that the attack occurred in the early hours of Saturday, January 4, 2025, when the suspected warlords laid an ambush on the villagers who were on their way to their farms. The attackers opened fire on the unsuspecting villagers, killing two men, Abi Effiong Oku and Inyang Nya Ewa,  injuring many others. One of the deceased victims was beheaded.


This is the second time in six months that Isu community has invaded Ukwa community, resulting in the loss of lives and properties. In May 2024, Isu invaded Ukwa Mbiabong Ukwa, leading to the death of five persons.


The latest attack has left the community in a state of shock and fear. Residents are calling on the government to take urgent action to address the security challenges in the area and bring the perpetrators to justice.
