Police Rescue 13 Kidnapped Victims, Arrest 5 Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Firearms and Ammunition


The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to combating kidnapping, armed robbery, and other forms of criminality, with significant achievements recorded in recent operations across the country. Over the past week, the Force has intensified its efforts, leading to the successful rescue of 13 kidnapped victims, the arrest of five suspected armed robbers, and the recovery of several firearms and ammunition.


In a daring operation on 27th December 2024, police operatives attached to the Kwara State Command responded swiftly to a distress call reporting the abduction of 13 individuals in the Idofin-Igbana area. The team stormed the kidnappers’ hideout, overcoming armed resistance and forcing the assailants to flee with injuries. All 13 victims were successfully rescued and reunited with their families.


In another decisive move, on 28th December 2024, officers of the Lagos State Command intervened in a public disturbance at Pinnacle Depot, Lekki. Their swift action led to the arrest of two suspects, Lawan Mustapha (38) and Aina Daniel (38), and the recovery of one double-barrel rifle, 90 live cartridges, and five model rifles.


On the same day, at approximately 12:45 PM, operatives arrested three suspected armed robbers in GRA Ikeja. A search of the suspects yielded one locally made pistol, four live cartridges, and two cutlasses. The suspects are currently in custody, with investigations ongoing and prosecution to follow.


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has reiterated the Force’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians. He assured the public that the Police will continue to employ advanced strategies and resources to address the menace of crime and criminality in the nation.


“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its mission to create a safer environment for all Nigerians, and we urge the public to continue supporting our efforts by providing timely information and cooperating with law enforcement,” the IGP stated.


The Force calls on all Nigerians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station, as it continues to prioritize national security and public safety.
