In a swift response to a distress call, the Cross River State Police Command apprehended three armed robbery suspects and recovered a locally made short gun, machetes, and other weapons. The suspects were involved in a highway robbery on September 2nd, where they robbed a motorist of valuables worth ₦455,000 along the Federal Highway in Akamkpa LGA.
The Anti-Cultism and Kidnapping Squad (ACKS) traced the suspects to their hideout through intelligence gathering and effected their arrest. The arrested individuals are Sunday Sunday Udo (27), Godday Friday Essien (22), and Kufre Edet Umoren (33).
Commissioner of Police, CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah, lauded the officers' quick action and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. He reassured the public of their safety and the police's commitment to ensuring the security of lives and property in the state.
The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation. The public is encouraged to contact the police through the provided helplines in case of emergencies.
