Pastor Usani Usani |
Former Nigerian Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Usani has given reasons for leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC) for People's Redemption Party (PRP).
The ex-minister who is vying for the office of governor in Cross River State, said his defection was as a result of the "constriction of the democratic space".
He stated this in an interview with newsmen on Thursday.
He said: “We built up the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the members of the APC are not my enemies. The constriction of the democratic space has occasioned this expediency.”
Pastor Usani added that the defection was to enable him to actualise his ambition to succeed Governor Ben Ayade in 2023.
Recall that APC had a consensus arrangement for the governorship ticket with Prince Bassey Otu chosen as the consensus candidate.
