Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has concluded plans to carry out a major cabinet reshuffle. The governor has directed permanent secretaries to carry out an assessment of all his political appointees.
Governor Ayade had earlier today, directed all political appointees who are interested in contesting elective posts in next year's general elections to resign their appointments on or before 12 noon, May 6, 2022.
Hinting on an imminent cabinet shape-up, the Governor's Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, said in a statement on Wednesday, that the governor aims to finish strong as his administration enters the last lap.
The statement obtained by GRASSROOT REPORTERS, directed permanent secretaries to carry out an assessment of all his appointees, with focus on attendance and commitment to work.
The statement reads:
"His Excellency, the State Governor, Sir Ben Ayade is set to carry out a major cabinet reshuffle in a bid to ensure that the administration indeed finishes strong as it enters the last lap of its lifespan.
"Toward this end, Permanent Secretaries of all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies are hereby directed to prepare to render, an assessment of the various political appointees in the MDAS.
"The assessments will be on attendance and the commitment of the appointees to work."
