Businessman and 2023 Cross River State governorship aspirant, Engr. Ben Akak has congratulated Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu on his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in next year's general elections.
GRASSROOT REPORTERS had reported that the APC, in the early hours of Tuesday, May 10, chose Senator Otu as its consensus aspirant in a meeting which was attended by all the aspirants.
The meeting which had in attendance, Governor Ben Ayade, and the APC Exco members, held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
In congratulatory message to Senator Otu, Engr. Akak noted that in a football match, there must always be a winner, hence, he has decided to abide by the Party's decision.
The message read in full:
CONGRATULATIONS TO SEN. PRINCE BASSEY OTU ON YOUR EMERGENCE AS THE APC CONCENSUS CANDIDATE FOR THE 2023 GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION IN CROSS RIVER STATE.
Distinguished sir,
The journey to where we are now was not an easy one. As a fellow contestant, I know that we all gave in our best.
Like a football match, a winner must emerge at the end of the day and on this, the leader of our party, His Excellency, Prof Ben Ayade and elders of the party who are the refrees have decided in their wisdom that you lead the battle of the APC in the forth coming elections and as a loyal party man and one that believes that politics is not a do or die game, I humbly abide by the party decision for the sake of our leader, the governor, and our party, as well as the wellbeing of the larger Cross River people.
As a man of faith, I sincerely believe that the intrigues and political games that led to your emergence were all actions to fulfil a destiny, a destiny that has been designed by God alone for you.
On behalf of myself and family, my political supporters and well wishers, I most sincerely congratulate you on this feat and wish you success in the forth coming elections as you steer our party to victory.
