C'River: Eta Mbora Wins PDP Reps Ticket For The 4th Time; Party Postpones Assembly Primaries

Three-term lawmaker representing Odukpani/Calabar Municipality in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Eta Mbora has been declared winner of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, House of Representatives primaries conducted today in Calabar.


Hon. Mbora, who is gunning for the fourth term was earlier adopted as the consensus candidate of the party for the constituency.


In a related development, the PDP has postponed the House of Assembly primaries earlier scheduled for today, to tomorrow due to late arrival of voting materials and in some constituencies, insufficient materials.


GRASSROOTREPORT REPORTERS gathered that the party members who had waited since 8am, were furious over the delay in the commencement of voting while some of the delegates accused the party of planning to rig the process. 


A delegate who spoke with GRASSROOT REPORTERS expressed disappointment with the process, accusing the party of planning to impose candidates on the party.


The source who pleaded not be named, said other states had conducted theirs and the exercise was successful while that of Cross River State has been delayed, adding that there are rumours that names are being written instead of allowing the delegates to vote.
