The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a popular phone shop in Calabar, UDEC Phones, Mr. Okoye Charles Udechukwu has been kidnapped.
GRASSROOT REPORTERS gathered that the businessman was kidnapped at about 7:45pm, on Tuesday, at the premises of the phone shop, opposite University of Calabar, Eta Agbor Road, Calabar.
A source told GRASSROOT REPORTERS that the kidnappers attempted kidnapping the manager of a nearby super market, Sparks Super Market, but he narrowly escaped through the backdoor.
Confirming the incident in an exclusive conversation with GRASSROOT REPORTERS, the Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo, said the police anti-kidnapping unit are working to ensure his release.
She said: "Yes, the anti-kidnapping unit are on it. The incident happened at about 7:45pm".
