The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has urged aspirants vying for various positions in next year's General Elections not to pick the party's nomination forms yet.
The party said that it has put machineries in place to ensure zoning of offices, arriving at a consensus and involving all major stakeholders in the process leading to the elections.
In a statement signed by Erasmus Ekpang, the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, and obtained by GRASSROOT REPORTERS, the APC said the move is not an attempt to deny the candidates the right to vie for any position of their choice but aimed at "achieving a harmonious, friendly and a win - win arrangements for every member of the APC."
The statement read:
"As our great party APC commences sale of Expression of intent / nomination forms tommorow being Saturday the 23rd of April 2023 for all elective offices ahead of the 2023 General election, the Cross River State chapter of the party wishes to appeal to all members to please tarry a while for at least one week and interface with major stakeholders and caucuses at the ward and LGA levels before taking any steps to buy nomination forms.
"This appeal has become necessary because the party has put machinery in place to promote wider and all inclusive participation of all major stakeholders in the party towards building genuine consensus, attempting appropriate zoning and embracing a winning strategy for all positions to be contest
"While this is not an attempt to sequestrate the inalienable rights of aspirants to vie for any position, the party has taken cognizance of the difficult times we find ourselves and the need to Dialogue with every family member with a view to achieving a harmonious, friendly and a win - win arrangements for every member of the APC.
"In the light of this, all aspirants for the office of House of Assembly are to meet with the state chairman of APC Barr Alphonsus Ogar Eba on Monday at the party secretariat as follows:
Monday 25th April 2022 All House of Assembly
Aspirants from Southern Senatorial District 10: 00am
All House of Assembly aspirants from Central Senatorial District, 12 : 00 noon
All house of Assembly aspirants from the Northern Senatorial District, 2:00 pm
Tuesday 26th April 2022:
Governorship Aspirants 10 :00 am.
National Assembly (House of Representatives and Senate) aspirants 12:00 noon.
