Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi will not feature for the remainder of the season following a knee injury he sustained against Rennes.
Ndidi got injured and underwent surgery as a result of a tackle on Gaetan Laborde when both sides met in the UEFA Europa Conference League last-16 , second leg tie on March 17 which they lost 2-1.
The injury has kept him on the sidelines and ruled him out of Nigeria’s World Cup play-off with Ghana.
Leicester coach, Brendan Rodgers confirmed that Ndidi won’t feature again this season and will rehabilitate with the aim of returning for the start of pre-season.
‘Wilfred Ndidi will be out for the season, it’s a shame for us but he’ll get ready for next season,’ Rodgers said as his side prepares for a league resumption fixture against Manchester United on Saturday.
‘It’s unfortunate. He’s been a brilliant player for me in my time here. He picked up a nasty injury that has had to have surgery on and he’ll recover now until June.’
Ndidi has made 31 appearances in all competitions for Leicester this season, scoring two goals.
