Report reaching GRASSROOT REPORTERS has it that the Calabar-Ikom highway has been blocked following a communal clash that erupted Monday night and continued early this morning, between the people of Alesi in Ikom Local Government and Ochon in Obubra Local Government, both of Cross River State.
A source told GRASSROOT REPORTERS that a former People's Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Hon. Emmanuel Ibeshi was attacked on his way from his hometown and his car vandalized. The Obudu NURTW Chairman's car was said to have been vandalized.
The source also said one person has been confirmed dead while many were injured and properties destroyed in the clash.
Meanwhile, the army and other security operatives has been deployed to the area to restore order.
The cause of the clash is not immediately clear as of the time of this report.
