BREAKING: Court Strikes Out Terrorism, Treasonable Felony Charges Against Journalist, Agba Jalingo


 
A Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State has stoke out terrorism and treasonable felony charges against journalist, Agba Jalingo, GRASSROOT REPORTERS reports.


The Court, presided over by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu on Monday, discharged Mr. Agba Jalingo  following the decision of the Cross River State Government to withdraw the charges it filed against him.

The Cross River State Government had taken over prosecution from the federal government in February 2020 when he was admitted to bail after spending 179 days in incarceration.


The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Cross River State Mr. Tanko Ashang Esq informed the court of the decision of the State Government to discontinue with the case.


The Attorney General who was represented by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr John Ogban informed the court that the Chambers of the Attorney General has decided to withdraw the charges earlier instituted against Agba Jalingo and therefater urged the court to strike out the charges.


Without opposition from the defence, the court then made an order striking out the charges.
