Terrorists Attack Kebbi Communities, Kill Five, Raze Down Houses


Gunmen suspected to be armed bandits attacked one of the villages in Shanga Local Government area of Kebbi state.


It was gathered that the deadly attack took place at the early hours of Saturday 19 February, 2022.

The terrorists reportedly killed five persons and wounded many others after blocking the Yauri-Koko road in the State.


They killed three persons during the road blockade and two more while on their way to Bakin Turu village.


A source in the community stated that the gunmen first attacked Tungar Zarumai of Sakace ward, Shanga LGA.


The terrorists proceeded to Bakinturu where they spent hours disrupting peace and force residents to leave the environs to Yauri main town.


The source further narrated that houses, foodstuffs and other valuable items were burnt down by the bandits.


The attack made residents of the village took to their heels for survival, he added while calling on government intervene.


Confirming the incident, the member of the House of Representatives for Ngaski/Shanga/Yauri, Yusuf Sununu, said the bandits also abducted many residents of Bakin Turu during the attack.


He said:

“The Yauri-Koko road that they blocked, they were there for several hours this morning (Saturday). They killed three motorists and wounded several others. As I am speaking to you now, we are preparing to bury one of those killed by the bandits.


“While in Bakin Turu village, they (bandits) abducted men and women and domestic animals. We are yet to ascertain the number of residents abducted by the bandits. And we also learnt that on their way to the village, they saw two Fulani people and killed them too.”
