Former Deputy Chief of Staff to former Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State, Chief Jude Ngaji has emerged the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the February 26, 2022 Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency's bye-election.
The seat became vacant following a Supreme Court judgment which declared former occupant of the seat, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe as the rightful flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the bye-election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in 2020, into Cross River North Senatorial District in the Senate. Senator Jarigbe was subsequently sworn-in as senator, leaving the seat vacant
Chief Ngaji, who was unopposed, was elected the consensus candidate of the APC, in a primary election held today, February 1, 2022, in Ogoja.
