The EFCC, Uyo Zonal Command, on Thursday February 10, 2022 arraigned three suspects: Uwem Peter Umoren, Imoette Edet Thomas and Daniel Sunday Effiong before Justice Agatha Okeke of the Federal High Court Uyo, for obtaining Fifteen Million One Hundred And Twenty Four Thousand, Seven Hundred Naira ( N15,124,700.00) by false pretence. The defendants pleaded 'not guilty' to the five counts brought against them.
In a related development, Justice T. B. Adegoke of the Federal High Court, Uyo on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 ordered the remand of one Edidiong Itiaba Akpabio at the Commission's detention facility in Uyo.
The suspect pleaded 'not guilty' to the one count charge preferred against him by the EFCC for obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of Three Million, Nine Hundred And Fifty Four Thousand (N3, 954,000.00) Naira. The court adjourned till Thursday February 24, 2022 for trial.
