Ex-Servicemen in Cross River State have called on other State Government to emulate Governor Ben Ayade for his prompt Payment of monthly stipend that enhances the Pension paid by the Federal Government.
Chairman of the Nigeria Legion in the State, Captain Bassey Edet (Rtd.) made the call during the Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service organized to commemorate the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the Nigerian Navy Catholic Church Calabar.
He called on clergy to pray for both the federal and Cross River State Government on behalf of the state Ex-Servicemen.
He noted that widows of the departed heros and their children relied largely on the monthly stipends and pension for their upkeeps.
He pledged the commitment of the retired military men to the security and stability of Cross River state.
The secretary to Cross River State Government, Tina Agbor and the Commissioner for Humanity and Social welfare, Blessing Egbara, said security forces have demonstrated unparalleled patriotism, courage, loyalty and commitment to the Unity of Nigeria.
The Prayer session was part of the 2022 annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebrations in honour of departed heroes.
