Anambra: "Election Must Hold", ELFON Insists, Calls On FG To Address Injustices Against Southeast

A frontline youth group, Emerging Leaders of Nigeria (ELFON) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to go ahead with the Anambra State governorship election scheduled for this weekend.

There have been calls for the election to be postponed due to the escalating insecurity in the state.

In a communique signed by Amb. Celestine Uchechukwu Obi, ELFON Secretary, Anambra State and Comr. Chineze Charles Ezeaniekwe, Anambra State YAN Ambassador, said the call became necessary to avoid a "constitutional breach that will lead to an ALIEN GOVERNMENT in Anambra State".

The communique read in full:

EMERGING LEADERS FORUM, ANAMBRA STATE CHAPTER.

COMMUNIQUE REACHED AT THE SUMMIT

ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION AND INSECURITY:

EMERGING LEADERS FORUM RESOLVES, MOVES TO ENFORCE SANITY.

Anambra State Chapter Of The Emerging Leaders Forum Of Nigeria(ELFON), composed of strong coalition of leaderships of deeply patriotic, progressive, vibrant young minds and youth fronts, such as Anambra State Council Of Youths, Catholic Youth Organization Of Nigeria, National Youth Council Of Nigera, National Union Of Anambra State Students, Youth Assembly Of Nigeria, National Union Of Road Transport Workers, Union Of Anambra Keke Napep Drivers, Anambra State Mechanics Association, Partners for good Governance among others, who are here, in a well informed circumstantial summit of today, Tuesday 2nd, November 2021, responsively resolved to enforce sanity and security as follows:

1) That the holding of a CREDIBLE, FREE and FAIR Governorship Election to enthrone an acceptable state leadership for Ndi Anambra, as already scheduled for November 6th 2021 by the Independent National Electoral Commission, is not NEGOTIABLE.

This will be so, to avoid a constitutional breach that will lead to an ALIEN GOVERNMENT in Anambra State.

2) That the accredited Law Enforcement Agents are enjoined to collaborate with Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria and eminent patriotic bodies in Anambra to forestall  VOTER APATHY.

3) That the Federal Government is urged, as a matter of urgency to invoke concrete audacity to transparently address the imbalance in appointments and core issues of injustice that catalyzed agitations in the Southeast and other zones of the country for National Unity.

4) That the current  destruction of the IGBO ECONOMY through the imposition, brazen extension and mischievous hijack of the SIT AT HOME ORDERS in the South East, shall receive a permanent solution in the coming Emerging Leaders National Unity CONFAB.

These resolutions shall not admit of any COMPROMISE.

This COMMUNIQUE is made under our hands thus:

*Amb. Celestine Uchechukwu Obi - ELFON Secretary, Anambra state

*Comr. Chineze Charles Ezeaniekwe - Anambra state YAN Ambassador
