BREAKING: NLC To Embark On Indefinite Strike In C'River From Tomorrow, October 12

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has ordered its members to down tools in Cross River State, beginning from tomorrow, October 12, 2021.


In a bulletin dated October 11, the NLC said the strike became necessary in order to press home its grievances.


The bullentin, obtained by GRASSROOT REPORTERS, reads:

"Dear Comrades, whereas the enlarged Congress of Organized Labour met on Wednesday 6th October 2021 at Nigerian Civil Service Union(NCSU) Secretariat to deliberate on the many issues troubling the workers of Cross River State;

"Whereas the Congress, after extensive deliberation, resolved that all workers in the State and Local Government should down tools to press home our grievances, workers are hereby called upon to stay at home from tomorrow, Tuesday 12th October, 2021.

"Comrades, stay at home until you hear from us". The bullentin read. 


Similarly, in compliance with the directive of the labour union, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), said all schools be closed beginning from tomorrow.


A text message to its members read:  "Please note that by the above NLC's notice, all Branch officers are to enforce the strike in their respective areas. All schools should remain closed while teachers should remain at home."
