11 Months Unpaid Salaries: UCTH Interns Takes Protest To Abuja, Summits Petition Against CMD To Senate

Medical interns undergoing a mandatory 1-year internship programme at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), on Tuesday, October 12, continued their protest over the non-payment of their over 11 months salaries by the management of the hospital.

The interns comprising doctors, medical laboratory scientists, pharmacists and other paramedicals, had staged similar protests in Calabar, but their demands were not met.

They accused the hospital management of paying deaf ears to their plight.

Addressing the interns in Abuja, Senator Rochas Okorocha, who received the petition against the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Ikpeme Ikpeme, assured the interns that the Senate will act on the petition.
