Nigeria's Senate President, Dr. Ahmed Lawan, today, December 16, 2020, swore-in Dr. Stephen Odey as Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District.
Dr. Odey's swearing in was deferred to today. No reason was given for the deferment.
His candidacy has been the subject of litigation with Hon. Jarigbe Agom laying claim to the candidacy of the Peoples Democratic Party, the party that won the election on December 5.
Despite conflicting court judgments, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), went ahead to recognise and present certificate of return to Dr. Odey.
