Worried by the incessant communal clashes, resulting to wanton destruction of lives and properties in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State, a youth group, Odukpani Youth Forum is set to hold its maiden get together/peace summit.
In an interview with Grassroot Reporters in Calabar, the Coordinator of the group, Asuquo Antigha said the purpose of the summit is to educate the youths on the implications of communal war and the consequences of engaging in cultism and other social vices.
Mr. Antigha also said the summit would be used to encourage the youths to engage in entrepreneurial skills in order to be gainfully employed.
The event which is scheduled to begin tomorrow, December 19 with a novelty football match between Odukpani Youth Forum and some selected members of the some warring communities in Odukpani, will feature eminent sons of Odukpani such as Chief Akiba Ekpenyong, Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of Odukpani LGA, Mr. Joseph Edet La-Shakara, Manager, Calabar Garment Factory and Barr. Edet Bassey, who would speak on different topics on the 20th of December, 2020.
