Calabar Roads Rehabilitation: Rain Has Washed Off All Work Done Yesterday - Ayade's Spokesman

The Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, Mr. Christian Ita has blamed the impatience of Cross Riverians which has led to the governor granting approval for the rehabilitation of internal roads in Calabar metropolis and other part of the state, against engineering advice.

Following the onset of dry season, the governor had given approval for the rehabilitation of internal roads in Calabar, and work commenced yesterday.

The state Commissioner for works, Engineer Dan Osim Asu said the governor also mobilised contractors for the completion of the 27 kilometre all important Boki East-West road.

In an apparent reaction to the heavy downpour in Calabar yesterday, Mr. Ita said all the work done yesterday on the roads have become a colossal waste of time and money.

In a press statement yesterday, titled 'Potholes and the need for patience by Cross Riverians', he said:

"Impatience and pressure most often birth disastrous outcomes.

"The state government commenced work on potholes against engineering advice to please the public and here we are with this heavy rain today.

"As it stands, all the work done today on the roads have become a colossal waste of time and money.

"The lesson here is that we must always listen to engineering advice when it comes to issues of this nature. Not everything needs to be political". The statement read.
