Fuel Increase: 'Don't Be Deceived, PDP Govt Sold Fuel At N600 Per Litre' - Presidency

Garba Shehu
The Presidency has urged Nigerians not to be deceived by the Peoples Democratic Party antics over the Nigerian Government's increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly called petrol, because during their (PDP) time, they increased the price of the product to N600 amidst shortages.

Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mallam Garba Shehu, stated this on his Twitter handle.

The post which was accompanied by a Punch Newspaper report, published in 2013 with a major headline "Petrol Sells For 600 Naira Per Litre", generated angry reactions from Nigerians.

Mallam Shehu wrote on Tuesday night: "Don't allow the PDP to deceive you. Amidst acute shortages, they sold petrol at N600 per litre on Easter Sunday in 2013 (See Punch published on that say)."

Recall that the Federal Government had last week announced an increase in the pump price of petrol to N151.56 per litre with effect from September 2, 2020.

The announcement was contained in an internal memo issued by Pipeline and Product Marketing Company (PPMC), Ibadan Deport to all stakeholders.

The memo was signed by the Depot Manager, D.O. Abalaka.

In a related development, the federal government, today, September 8, advised Nigerians to brace up for more increase in the price of petrol
