Doctors In Cross River Embarks On Indefinite Strike To Protest Kidnap Of Its Member

Doctors in both private and government hospitals in Cross River State have embarked on an indefinite strike action following the kidnap of one of its members, Dr. Vivien Otu.

The decision was taken at an emergency congress of Nigerian Medical Association, NMA Cross River State branch, held today, August 29 in Calabar.

Dr. Otu was abducted on Friday night at the funeral of one of her colleagues’ mother around Marian Road in Calabar.

The NMA, Dr. Innocent Abang confirmed her kidnap “I was told she went for a wake keep service of one of our colleagues’ mother and was about going home. That was when she was whisked away. The incident happened around an eatery along the Marian Road.

“We have been in contact with security agents. They are trying to get her but since her phones are not with her, they cannot trace her.”
