The two factional secretariats of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Calabar, Cross River State have been locked up by all the 196 councillorship candidates of the party in the just concluded LGA elections in the state.

The councillorship candidates alleged insincerity on the part of the different factional leaders of the party.

At the secretariat used by the Etim John faction, they manhandled some of the occupants and party officials who resisted them.

They drove out all staff, residents and party officials from the two secretariats, warning that if the offices are reopened without the officials settling all disputes for them to have a headway, they would not hesitate to set them afire.

They have insisted that both factions should consolidate on the ongoing peace progress.

Leading the pack to the two secretariats, State coordinator of the councillorship candidates' forum, Effiom Yellow-Duke said there must be one APC in the state.

They expressed annoyance that despite their efforts, financial contributions towards the last council and ward elections, they were used and dumped.

They also cautioned that all they want is for the party to be one, that from all indications the party leaders were not ready to reconcile.

Effiom said the council chairman candidates were also aggrieved over how the party treated them but that the councillors who are the real grassrooters and were roundedly cheated and drained cannot wait for them.

The forum of the councillors who rose from their plenary meeting in Calabar, appealed to the stakeholders and national caretaker committee to wade into the situation of Cross River APC.
