Against the backdrop of the crisis rocking the Niger Delta Development Commission, Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to get the root of the problem undermining the development of the commission despite huge resources dedicated to it annually.
The president stated this on Thursday On his Twitter handle.
The commission had been embroiled in allegations and counter-allegations of corruption. This led to the president ordering an audit of the commission. The president went ahead to set up an Interim Management Committee (IMC).
President Buhari said: "All investigating agencies and auditing firms currently working collaboratively with National Assembly Committees to audit and reposition the NDDC must act with urgency and a sense of purpose, and ensure that I am kept informed of any and all actions being taken".
He added that the determination of his administration to entrench transparency and accountability also applies to NDDC and all other institutions of the Federal Government.
