This was disclosed by Governor Ben Ayade on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at the inauguration of the Cross River State Privatization Council.
The Governor who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Ivara Esu said newly established industries and its cocoa farm estate may be handed over to the private sectors to run on behalf of the government, hence the need for a privatisation Council to put the process in place.
Professor Esu emphasized that the council's assignment is important to the government and people of the state which was why the membership was carefully selected.
He admonished them to be of good conduct and take the assignment seriously, adding that privatization is an important organ of Government.
The Deputy Governor noted that the government led by Senator Ayade has set up industries in all the 18 local government area to assist the people to benefit through the policy of privatization.
The Secretary to the State Government, Tina Agbor intimated that the privatization law of the state is a policy that seeks to encourage enterprise through diversification of the State's economy and public/private sectors participation and partnership in economic development.
Responding, the Chairman of the state council on Privatization, Mr. Monday John Odo pledged that Government business shall be somebody business in terms of achieving results.
Mr Odo, on behalf of members promised to be firm in their transactions, and ensure that they discharge their responsibilities in accordance with their mandate.
Those inaugurated are Monday John Odo, Chairman, Johnson Eyibio, Butum Ubi Ofem, John Agabor Odey and Festus Ita-Okon as members.
