Sen. Ita Giwa Visits Bayside, Nyanghasang Communities, Distributes Palliatives.


As the fight to keep the state free of Covid-19 continues, residents of Bayside and Nyanghasang communities have been enjoined to practice regular hand washing and also eat healthy.

Princess Florence Ita Giwa who led other notable Efik women under the auspices of Nka Iban Isong Efik to the communities also shared bags of rice, garri, hand sanitizer, nosemask and other essential  items to residents of the area in order to cushion the economic effect  of the pandemic.

At Bayside, Calabar South, the former lawmaker said it was a home coming for her to return back to the community she grew up from.

"This Bayside community made me who I am.
In fact, there can be no Mma Giwa without Bayside. This is where I was born, where I went to school and was trained.  Even in politics, I have never gone left and this community goes the other way. You have always followed me. So I am happy to be back home to see some faces I have not seen in years"

While taking time to explain basic hand washing techniques as well as the use of sanitizer, she assured that the sensitization and advocacy drive will be taken to other communities in the state.

At Nyanghasang community, Sen. Ita Giwa who was welcomed by a large number of women and youths was received by the  head of the clan council, HRH Ntoe Edim Moses Ekong who praised her for her effort and show of love and assured that the palliatives will be judiciously used.

Notable Efik women who accompanied Sen. Ita Giwa  included former national assembly lawmaker and diplomat, Amb. Nkoyo Toyo, wife of the Paramount Ruler of Calabar South, Prof. Mrs. Itam Hogan amongst others.
