C'River Government Unveils One hundred bed Isolation Center In Adiabo supported by CACOVID


The Cross River State government in partnership with the Coalition Against COVID-19, has commissioned a one hundred bed space Isolation Center in Adiabo Community, a suburb of the capital city Calabar.

While unveiling the Center on behalf of the state Governor Sen Ben Ayade, the Commissioner for Health and Chairman, State COVID-19 response Taskforce, Dr Betta Edu said the center is well equipped with an Intensive Care Unit, a laboratory to run basic investigations, male and female wards, babies section, trained health workers (clinical and non-clinical) as well as other Medical Equipments like mobile X-ray machine, ventilators, respirators, oxygen concentrators,monitors, pulse oxymeter etc to support the center in the fight against COVID-19. She thanked the private sector for their immense contribution to Cross River state.

The state Commissioner for Finance who is also the Secretary of the COVID-19 Taskforce, Hon. Asuquo Ekpeyong, urged citizens not to panic nor listen to rumours or false information as the State is still free of the virus and is prepared to manage any emergency. He called on the private sector to do more in support of building a more resilient health system across the country .

The CACOVID Representative Mr Andem expressed delight at the involvement of private sector in the fight against COVID-19. He thanked the state for providing the facility which they have graciously supported with some of the equipment and other necessities. He pledged that the coalition will do more for the state in the nearest future as they work together to strengthen the health system.
"CACOVID strongly lauds Governor Ben Ayade, his strategies to combat the pandemic has been outstanding in Nigeria".

The Chief Medical Director, University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, Prof Ikpeme Ikpeme who was represented by Dr Efa Deputy CMAC said UCTH was proud of the great strides made by the State Government in preventing COVID-19. He commended the synergy that existed between the state and UCTH pledging that they will continue to work with the state to do more for Cross Riverians. He praised the well equipped center and thanked CACOVID for the great support to the state!

Also speaking, Dr Michael Eyong, the Medical sub Committee Chairman, thanked the cross state government led by  Prof. Ben Ayade as well as the Chairman of the taskforce team Dr Betta Edu for being very proactive while assuring that with this development, the State can manage any eventuality. He applauded the efforts of the CRSG/CRSMOH for the training of 400 Health Workers to man these centers. He therefore called on Cross Riverians to remain steadfast and not panic as they are in safe hands.

With the 100 bed space Adiabo Isolation Center, the State now have three functional Centers, others located in Ogoja and the University Of Calabar Teaching hospital UCTH.
