A group, Coalition for Ben Akak, stated this on Wednesday, 1st January, 2020 at his residence when they joined friends, associates and relatives of the philanthropist to celebrate his 40th birthday.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Sct. Obio Monday described Engr. Akak as a beacon of hope for the youths of Cross River Sate.
He said "we appreciate your kind gestures, youth empowerment and positive impact on youth development. Eyes have seen what you've been doing to better the lot of youths, women, poor and the vulnerable in the society. We have come to say thank you for the lives you've touched through your many philanthropic gestures and youth empowerment".
Sct. Obio added " Your humility, hardwork, resilience and determination to ensure that people's lives are lifted is worthy of emulation. You've been a great blessing not only to the youths but also to many people and groups across the country and beyond.
As you celebrate your birthday today, we say thank you and may God bless, strengthen and give you the grace and resources to continue to touch lives. We present this little gift as a token of appreciation for your good works and ask God to keep you in good health and prosperity".
He said "I'm very delighted for this gift and show of love. I never expected this. I hate to see people suffer and I believe in touching the lives of people. I know what it is to go through pains and in my own little way, I'll continue to put smiles on people's faces. Even if I own all the cars and aircraft in the world, it cannot be compared to one human life. For this reason, myself and my wife intend to launch a cooperative which we would use to better people's lives".
Highlight of the event included presentation of gifts, cutting of birthday cake and singing birthday song to the celebrant.
