C'River Ministry Commences The Use Of Electronic Time Machine To Check Late-coming

The Cross River State Ministry of Information & Orientation has commenced the use of electronic time machine for signing in and out on daily basis by staff to enforce discipline and improve productivity in the ministry.

The ministry said the electronic time machine replaces the old analog attendance register, where staff just walk into the office and sign anytime within the period of resumption of work on the register irrespective of the time they arrived the office.

Addressing staff of the Ministry on Monday to herald the commencement of the use of electronic time machine, the Commissioner for Information & Orientation, Comrade Asu Okang
maintained that the decision to introduce the device was borne out of his desire to guarantee productivity among the staff as well as promote discipline, pointing out that it was not meant to witch hunt any staff.

Comrade Okang said, work in the service is no more business as usual as he was in the Ministry with a strong mandate from Governor Benedict Ayade to initiate and implement a new information order in the State and challenged staff to brace up into the rebranding agenda that will not only increase productivity, promote effective and efficient service delivery but will further boost the revenue profile of the Ministry and her parastatals, vis-à-vis the State in general.

The commissioner directed that the time-recording machine be replicated in all the parastatals under the Ministry, including the Cross River State Newspaper Corporation (CRSNC) Cross River Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC) Calabar and Ikom, The Cross River State Signage and Advertising Agency and the Government Printing Press, Calabar.

He directed the staff canteen in the Ministry be re-opened immediately to service the needs of staff and Management, emphasizing that no excuse of going out of the Ministry’s premises for lunch will be tolerated.

Also speaking, the Director of Administration in the Ministry, Dr. Atim Ekpenyong lauded Commissioner Okang for the time-recording machine, which she maintained will eliminate truancy and complacency in the service and assured of staff’s readiness to comply with the new order efficient and effective service delivery as well as increased productivity.
