AIT Awards Buhari 'African President Of The Year'

One of Nigeria's leading television station, African Independent Television (AIT) is set to award President Muhammadu  Buhari as the African President of the year.

This is coming few days after rumours went viral that its owner, Dr. Raymond Dokpesi was set to dump the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Party (APC).

Dr. Dokpesi had come out to deny the rumour. AIT had its license suspended by the National Communications Commission for breach of broadcast code. The suspension was lifted after many Nigerians criticised the body

and a court order.

Announcing the award, an aide to President Buhari, Bashir Ahmad shared the news and a flyer on his Twitter handle. He wrote:

"The African President of the Year 2019. Great choice, thank you DAAR/AIT"
