The Electoral Chairman for 2019 National Association of Cross River State Students ( NACRISS) Worldwide, Comr. Okono Moses has accused the former Commissioner for Sustainable Development, Mr. Oliver Orok of attempting to foist a particular candidate for the election who is related to him on the students.

Comr. Okono made the accusation in an exclusive interview with Odukpani Daily yesterday evening. His words "former Commissioner for Sustainable Development, Mr. Oliver Orok wants to impose a candidate for the election (name withheld) and I said no to it. As I was about conducting the election, before I knew it, an army vehicle from Homeland Security came and ordered me to enter their car and I said no. Then the Anti-Cultism and Kidnapping Squad I invited intervened. I was then carried by Police to State House Police Divisional Headquarters. After that, I contacted the Commissioner of Police who sent more policemen to us".

He said the election was postponed to Saturday,  24th August, 2019 due to the rowdiness at the venue. He accused some persons of attempting to induce him financially, promising that he will not compromise his stand on a free and fair election. " I refused to be induced financially, I refuse to turn down the interest of Cross River students ".

On the purported election conducted by a faction of the electoral body led by Electoral Secretary, he said " I just received a report that some people ganged up with the help of the former commissioner, Mr. Oliver Orok and conducted a purported election which I was not present and declared Emmanuel Duke winner. I am the electoral chairman and election was postponed till next week and on Saturday, NACRISS will elect their president".

He alleged attempts on his life "my life is under threat now. As am speaking to you,  I'm in an unknown destination. They want to force me to declare a particular candidate winner when election has not been conducted.

When contacted, the former commissioner for Sustainable Development, Mr. Oliver Orok promised to call back to react on the allegations. A reminder  was sent to him but he neither called nor replied our text message as at the time of filing this report. Also, WhatsApp messages sent to Comr. Emmanuel Duke were not replied.
