Ayade appoints Odukpani-born professor Acting VC of CRUTECH



Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has approved the appointment of Professor Akon Joshua as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Cross River State University of Technology (CRUTECH).
Professor Akon, an indigene of Idere Village in Odukpani Local Government Area was until her appointment a former Deputy Vice  Chancellor (Academic) of the institution.

This is coming amidst controversy of the appointment of Professor Emmanuel Ingwu as the Vice Chancellor last week by the senate of the institution. The appointment was reversed by the governor.

 A statement from Ayade’s Chief Press Secretary and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor Mr. Christian Ita  and made available to ODUKPANI DAILY desk in Calabar on Tuesday confirmed the appointment saying that Akon was a calm and good material to superintend over the institution. Ita states that with the appointment Akon would act for a period of three months before subsequently handing over to a new Vice Chancellor.

Akon, a professor of Educational Psychology, who was also a former Dean, Faculty of Education in the university is given the appointment based on hard work.
Commenting on the appointment, one of the students of the institution, John Ajom said  “I think this is an opportunity for Akon to prove her mettle” Adding that Akon had taught him, and that he believes the academic don won’t let the students and management of the school down.
