Man arrested with with 345kg of 'Igbo' meant for Calabar South

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has intercepted a van conveying 345 Kilograms of cannabis sativa, popularly called 'Igbo' or Ikong Ekpo in Efik parlance in Calabar, the Cross River state capital.
NDLEA Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Odili, said the driver and conveyor of the contraband, Marshal Francis, was apprehended following intelligence report.

Odili said that the fifty-year-old man has already been charged to court.
He said the suspect was taking the sacks to Calabar South local Government Area for distribution and sales.

The statement quoted the commandant of NDLEA in Cross River state, Anthonia Edeh as advising Nigerians to resist criminal elements who attempt to lure them into drug usage and peddling.
