Upgrade Calabar Health Tech to Polytechnic - SSANIP Tells Ayade

The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics, SSANIP, has called on the Cross River State Government to upgrade the state-owned College of Health Technology, Calabar to a full polytechnic.

The position of the union was part of the ten-point communique issued at the end of its 59th National Executive Council meeting held in Calabar.
National President of the association, Sunday Sabo, who earlier made the position known during his visit to the state Deputy Governor, explained that upgrading of the College of Health Technology, Calabar to a polytechnic, will enable the institution to get quick access to technical and vocational education.

He said the institution has met the minimum requirements to become a polytechnic in a bid to bridge the manpower gap needed in the state.
On salary shortfall, the council appealed to the Federal Government through the Ministry of Education to address the issue and pay up all unpaid salary arrears.

The council also called on the National Assembly to fast track the review of the TETFUND to accommodate monotechnics and private polytechnics across the country.
