The tribunal ’ s secretary , Josephine Ekperobe , disclosed this to our correspondent in Calabar , the state capital , on Monday .
“ There is still time for the candidates to file their petitions . We are expecting them to do so soon, ” Ekperobe said .
She said as for the National Assembly election , 12 petitions had been received as of the time of filing this report .
He added that the deadline for submission of petitions for the National Assembly election had elapsed, adding that the tribunal would begin sitting soon .
The most prominent petitions already submitted are from the former Niger Delta Development Commission’s chairman , Victor Ndoma -Egba, of the All Progressives Congress who is contesting the victory of Dr Sandy Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Cross River Central Senatorial District election and Jude Ngaji of APC challenging Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe ’s victory in the Ogoja / Yala Federal Constituency .
Others are Bassey Otu of the APC who is contesting the victory of Senator Gershom Bassey of the PDP in the Southern Senatorial District ; Wabilly Nyiam of the APC challenging the victory of Senator Rose Oko of the PDP in the Northern Senatorial District , Dominic Aqua Edem of the APC contesting the victory of Essien Ayi in the Akpabuyo/ Bakassi/Calabar South Federal Constituency election , and the petition from the Speaker of the state House of Assembly , John Gaul - Lebo of the PDP against the victory of the APC candidate, Alex Egbona in the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency .
